Candidates should attend a FAMUS-accredited course within 3 months of starting their first supervised scan, in order to complete the theory module of their training.

Thinking of running a FAMUS course?

We welcome new course centres! If you are thinking of running a FAMUS-approved course (that is, a course suitable for those undertaking FAMUS accreditation to take as part of their training), then please read the minimum standards document here.

If your course meets these standards, then please contact the FAMUS administrator (famus@acutemedicine.org.uk) with your course programme, proposed dates and confirmation that you meet the minimum standards listed.

If your course is approved, we will list the course details on the website above and provide access to the FAMUS course materials including lecture set and course handbook to be distributed to candidates. FAMUS approval costs £200 payable to SAM for each course run.

For new course centres, we ask that the first course be delivered with a FAMUS committee member as part of the faculty to quality assure the program and delivery, but subsequent courses at that site can be delivered according to the same programme with whatever faculty are chosen locally.

For any queries on any of the above, please contact the administrator.
