SAM Council: Call for Applicants, Spring 2026 Elections

Dear SAM Member,
In accordance with the Society’s Articles of Association, we are now seeking applications for the following roles on SAM Council:
- ACP Representative (includes Advanced Nurse Practitioner)
- Northern Ireland Representative
- Scotland Representative
- Wales Representative
- Research Lead
- Resident Representative (Formerly Trainee Rep)
- SAS (Staff, Associate Specialist & Speciality) Doctor Representative
- Secretary
If more than one application is received for a post, an election shall be held. Where only one application is received for a post, the appointment will be subject to ratification by the Members at the next AGM.
Applications should be made electronically to the Society’s office (administrator@acutemedicine.org.uk) by 12pm on Tuesday 16th June 2026.
Your application must include:
- A 300 (maximum) word statement to support your candidacy. Statements exceeding the word limit will be returned to you for editing
- Ensure you make clear your eligibility criteria as per the job description of the role
- You must be proposed and seconded by two society members who are in good standing with the society (NOT current SAM council). Please supply the names and email addresses of your two referees in your application
- You must be in good standing with the society
- Your contact details (email address and mobile number) for SAM to contact you as soon as the results are available. We prefer to contact all candidates by telephone when possible.
Please note SAM is an incorporated company.
You are very welcome to informally discuss the role with the current post holder, or any of the SAM Office Bearers. Please get in touch with the SAM office (administrator@acutemedicine.org.uk) and we’ll ask them to call you.
The new post holder will commence duties as soon as the appointment has been ratified by Council.
