Dear Colleague,
We are seeking volunteers to participate in a qualitative research project exploring clinical decision making by acute medicine consultants and acute internal medicine registrars. The project has received ethical approval. Interested colleagues will be provided with a study information sheet and those wishing to participate will be asked to provide written consent.
Participants will be asked to undertake a semi-structured interview lasting 30 to 45 minutes. The interviews can take place either face-to-face or using a web-based platform. Participant responses will be handled confidentially. The qualitative methodology employed is called grounded theory. In this study a theoretical model of clinical decision making will be constructed by the researcher; this model will be presented to the original participants for comment prior to completion of the study.
