Vinay Reddy-Kolanu
Quality & Innovation Committee Lead
Vinay is deeply committed to transforming quality and innovation in Acute Internal Medicine. He wants to engage more members of the entire multidisciplinary team in the delivery of high quality improvement initiatives. Too often, changes are implemented without employing a robust QIP approach, leading to unnecessary delays and missed opportunities to celebrate achievements. He is determined to create a clear pathway that empowers teams to deliver and provide a dynamic national platform for sharing and honouring their successes.
He is a consultant in Acute Internal Medicine with considerable clinical and leadership experience at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. During his long, now completed, tenure as clinical lead, he established SDEC in 2012, transformed the department’s reputation, and significantly expanded the number of consultants, resident doctors, pharmacists, and advanced care practitioners.
Since 2013, he has served as the West Midlands Training Programme Director for Acute Internal Medicine and started as General Internal Medicine TPD in 2024. Additionally, since 2023, he has held the role of Specialist Advisory Chair for Acute Internal Medicine for the UK.
Vinay’s research encompasses a wide range of topics, including delivery of education to SDEC pathways and diagnostic innovation, resulting in numerous peer reviewed publications.
