Quality Improvement
Introduction
The Society for Acute Medicine recognises the importance of Quality improvement being embedded in AIM training and the requirement to support developing these skills. Not only does QI need to be integrated into Acute medical roles, it needs a progressive structured curriculum particularly at the registrar level that builds on QI learning at Foundation and IMT level.
There is a case to align with the HQIP guide to involving junior doctors in clinical audit and quality improvement along with AoMRC Training for better outcomes developing quality into practice recommendations.
There is great opportunity as defined in the Long Term Plan to see improvements in Acute Medicine as a specialty that plays an integral role in building the system and culture for improvement in the NHS. The benefit of SAM steering QI training and supporting QI certification, will help focus the individual and collective energies of our trainees and faculty in bringing meaningful change
The QI committee has developed 2 training programmes
- Acute Medics as Improvers
- Acute Medics Leading Improvement
Details of courses will be added onto the events pages
