EFIM
From 2025 the Society has rejoined the European Federation of Internal Medicine (EFIM), an international organisation promoting the specialty of Internal Medicine across Europe and beyond. EFIM membership brings with it a number of benefits for SAM members:
- Discounted attendance at the annual European Congress of Internal Medicine (usually March each year)
- Opportunity for SAM members to join EFIM working groups to deliver change at an international level (current membership includes the ultrasound working group, and the acute medicine working group – list of groups available via the EFIM website; please contact SAM administrator if any groups are of interest)
- Access to the European Journal of Internal Medicine
- Opportunity for Resident doctors to join the Young Internists group
- Opportunity for two Resident Doctors to attend the EFIM Winter School – a week of residential education, leadership and collaboration (places funded by SAM under annual review)
- Opportunity for Resident Doctors to participate in the annual Residents exchange programme, with bursaries available from EFIM
- Access to webinars and educational event across a range of internal medicine topics
- The opportunity to influence the development of acute medicine as a specialty across Europe and beyond – many countries are interested in our model of care and looking at whether similar approaches may work for them
- The opportunity for our Resident Doctors to join the Young Internists section of EFIM
