John Hounsell
Wales Representative
John is a consultant in acute medicine at Princess of Wales Hospital (POW) in Bridgend where he has been clinical lead since 2015.
After starting his acute medicine training in the East of England, he transferred to sunny South Wales for the final years of AIM SpR training prior to CCT in 2014. His special interests include acute medical education and attending as many conferences as possible, including as a regular SAM delegate since 2010!
He is also the RCP College Tutor for POW and a founding member, and current chair, of Welsh Acute Physicians’ Society (WAPS). This is dedicated to furthering the specialty within Wales and to support our local trainees, including co-ordinating our annual summer SpR training week and hosting a yearly acute medicine symposium.
At other times John may be found sailing offshore or somewhere in the Alps. Alternatively as dad (and taxi driver!) to his 3 children down in Pembrokeshire!
