Ragit Varia
President-Elect
Ragit Varia is a Consultant in Acute Medicine at Whiston Hospital (Mersey & West Lancashire NHS Trust), where he has worked since 2012. He is passionate about advancing acute medical care, with particular interests in Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), service redesign, quality improvement, oncology, and the use of informatics to improve outcomes.
Within his Trust, he is the Lead for Same Day Emergency Care and Acute Kidney Injury, driving innovation in clinical practice and service delivery.
Beyond his Trust role, Ragit is Content Lead for the Royal College of Physicians’ Improvement programme and Acute Kidney Injury focus area lead for Advancing Quality Alliance (AQuA). In acute cancer care, he serves as Medical Lead for the Urgent Cancer Care programme with the Cheshire & Merseyside Cancer Alliance, working to transform pathways and enhance patient experience.
Through his leadership positions locally, regionally, and nationally, Ragit is committed to innovation, collaboration, and supporting colleagues to deliver the best possible care. He is driven by the belief that acute medicine can continually evolve to meet the needs of patients with compassion, quality, and excellence.
