SAM president welcomes new NHS England chief executive

Following the announcement of Amanda Pritchard as the new chief executive of NHS England, Dr Susan Crossland, president of the Society for Acute Medicine, said: “We welcome news of Amanda’s appointment and we wish her well in the role, particularly as she will take the reins at such a challenging time.

“There will be lots of work to do in not only continuing to manage the pandemic and the chaos Covid is leaving behind, but also getting a grip on the issues present long before.

“It is clear many things around the NHS need to change if it is to firstly cope and, secondly, prosper and some of it is not new news.

“We very much look forward to working with Amanda to push the acute medicine agenda and emphasise how it can aid and support the wider system.”
