Presentation 1: Acute Illness in People who Live with Frailty; What the Golden 72 Hours Means for the Care Team

Learning Objectives: To boil down geriatric medicine to four numbers, so as to:
– Understand why frailty challenges contemporary health care, especially acute hospital care
– Consider steps to improve the health care of older adults, by embracing what excellence in frailty care requires of us
Presentation 2: Recent Developments within the New Frailty Unit at DGRI
Dr Amy Conley and Drew Crooks, Dumfries & Galloway
Learning Objectives:
– Provide an overview of the development of the DGRI Frailty Unit
– How the changes have impacted patient flow and outcomes
– The vital role played by nursing staff and AHPs, particularly in the early phase of assessment and intervention
– Lessons learned/recommendations for other acute services seeking to strengthen their front-door frailty approach
