Daniel qualified with honours from the University of Edinburgh in 2001, and has been working in NHS Forth Valley as a Consultant Physician in Acute Medicine since 2009. Daniel is a fellow of the Scottish Patient Safety Program and his main interests are in the deteriorating patient, use of data for improvement and patient flow. He works with the Scottish Government on the unscheduled care team, and was appointed as the Chief Medical Officer’s (Scotland)’s first specialty adviser for Acute Medicine. Daniel in his role as Scotland SAM representative organised well-attended SAM (Scotland) annual conferences and is hosting SAM Glasgow (2020). Most recently Daniel has taken up a clinical director role at NHS Forth Valley. Daniel’s non-clinical interests include mountaineering (having recently completed climbing all the Munros), cycling and running marathons slowly…!
