Registrations now open for SAM Glasgow – 12-13 November 2020

12-13 November 2020
Registration for Live and Virtual Attendance open

We are delighted to announce that we have permission from the Scottish Government to run SAMGlasgow, the 14th International Society for Acute Medicine conference, as a pilot in-person conference. We have worked closely with the SEC (home to the NHS Louisa Jordan Hospital) to create a safe conference environment and the SEC Armadillo will offer plenty of space in a safe, risk assessed learning environment.

We are looking forward to welcoming 200 in-person delegates with a larger virtual audience. Virtual attendees can expect an excellent experience with all sessions being available to view live or on-demand and lots of opportunity to interact & network throughout the conference.

When registering for the conference, you can select either in-person or virtual attendance.

Visit the SAMGlasgow event website for more information on the extra measures we have put in place to create a safe conference for all attendees. If we are unable to meet in person, we will deliver a fully virtual conference offering attendees as many aspects of the in-person conference as possible.

The conference offers 12 CPD points and will update your skills and knowledge in many areas of clinical practice within acute medicine that you encounter daily including your recent experience in coping with COVID-19. Our conferences are open to all members of the multidisciplinary team who work in acute and general medicine, ranging from doctors in training through to senior consultants, nurses, physiotherapists and pharmacists.

The conference offers an entirely independent programme, based on the most recent research and development in acute medicine and has been designed by a multidisciplinary team who work at the front door in acute and general medicine on a daily basis. The agenda has been streamlined to 2 sessions running throughout and we will hear from the following keynote speakers:

Professor Andrew Goddard, President of the RCP: UK Response to COVID-19
Professor Jason Leitch, Scottish Government: What we Learned from COVID-19
Professor Sir Harry Burns, Guest Lecture: The Social Determinants of Health: Why it is Important on the AMU?
Professor Jackie Taylor, President, RCPSG: Caring for the Workforce – A Focus on Wellbeing
Dr Gregor Smith, Interim CMO Scotland: Realism in Acute Medicine in a time of COVID-19
Professor Derek Bell, OBE, Immediate Past President RCPE: Acute Medicine – Coming of Age

The parallel sessions will include the following:

Covid-19 Challenges on the AMU
Non-Covid-19 Challenges on the AMU
Fostering Meaningful Working Relationships with Colleagues
Specialty Visit to the AMU
Practical Cardiology
Human Factors
Clinical Medicine
