Dear Colleagues,
The research group of the Society for Acute Medicine has met several times and a clear research strategy is beginning to develop. It should be noted that the Society for Acute Medicine is working closely with the Royal College of Physicians London in several areas.
Firstly, the Society has, with the Clinical Effectiveness Unit, developed an organisational questionnaire for acute medical units. The results from the initial pilot for this will be published in Clinical Medicine later this year. Work is ongoing at the moment to progress this review to cover all acute medical units within the UK to provide a greater understanding of the services required and form the basis for a national acute medicine database.
