One of the aims of the website is to make members aware of high quality meetings and courses. We are keen to know of any events which you may be running or have attended, and would provide a good educational opportunity for SAM members.

British Echocardiography Meeting
Date: 1st of August from 15:00 pm to 17:00 pm
Venue: to be confirmed, most likely British Cardiac Society, London

In April, SAM circulated a survey on echocardiography in acute medical units. Echocardiography can (and will) be very helpful adjunct in the AMUs, as cardiovascular pathologies account for more than quarter of all acutely ill patients.

The working party of SAM has an opportunity to develop acute echocardiography with the support of British society of echocardiography (BSE). The road ahead is full of hurdles but we at SAM are determined to take this challenge for the sake of our acutely ill patients. The recent improvement in technology has made it possible to have good quality images using portable machines.

Currently, SAM has a draft syllabus which we aim to get BSE's agreement. Proposed agenda for our meeting with the BSE is to develop training structure, log book and process of accreditation.
